The Barth Syndrome Foundation's Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the mission and purpose of the organization. Its duties include participation in strategic planning and making policy decisions, then securing the financing of them and the monitoring of their execution. Members must be willing to attend the requisite meetings, follow through on commitments, and participate fully in the decision-making process. The board also presents the organization´s image to the community and solicits its support in achieving BSF´s goals. Members of the BSF Board of Directors serve three-year terms. B.J. Develle
B.J. is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with significant experience working with children with severe abuse histories and mental health needs, parents and families in crisis, and adults. He currently works for Pasco County Schools (Florida) as a School Social Worker, runs his own therapy practice, and provides professional development training throughout the state.
An active volunteer in the BSF community since 1998, B.J. joined the Board in 2017. He was originally introduced to the group by the Bowen family and then quickly began to participate in overall conference planning, with a specific focus on activities and sessions for families and youth. He has attended all of the BSF conferences since 2004. Over the years, B.J.’s involvement with BSF has grown to encompass even more of his professional clinical expertise in areas such as mentoring, assisting families with navigating community resources, parenting support, small group facilitation, and board development.
B.J. graduated from Florida State University with a Masters in Social Work after earning Bachelor degrees in Child Development and Religion. He currently lives outside of Tampa, Florida, USA in the town of New Port Richey with his wife, Greta, and their two children, Geo and Gwen.
