The Role of Research in Improving Care for Patients with Pediatric Cardiomyopathy
This webinar will focus on how research studies are used to improve care and advance treatment options for pediatric patients with cardiomyopathy. Case studies will be presented to familiarize families with the types of research that is available.
The session will be presented by Daphne T. Hsu, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Attending physician in pediatric cardiology and Director of the Adult Congenital Heart Program at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Hsu’s main research focus is on improving outcomes in children and young adults with congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure using medical and advanced therapies such as novel drug therapies, mechanical heart devices, and heart transplantation. She has served in leadership positions with the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology, International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, American Academy of Pediatrics, and American Board of Pediatrics. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics, Pediatric Cardiology and by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Adult Congenital Heart Disease.
